Artist Proof letter of provenance

The letter of provenance is to certify that the accompanying copy of the print is a limited edition Artist Proof (AP). The print is signed, embossed, and has an AP unique code (same code on both the print and on this letter). Artist proofs feature slight imperfections, such as under/overexposure in some areas, print and paper imperfections. This is normal and adds to the uniqueness of the print.

All the Artist Proofs I make are printed on A4 / 210 x 297 mm / 8.3 x 11.7-inch format, on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Ultra Smooth, 305 gsm 100% Cotton paper, acid-free, ISO 9706 conform, museum-quality or Epson Archival Matte Paper, 189 gsm, for highest age resistance. I am using Canon Lucia Pro pigment inks (oil-based) that meet the highest archival museum standards.

Artist’s proof is special due to uniqueness. Its purpose is to gain an impression of the finished photograph look. The AP is signed and generally is more valuable than the limited edition. So, keep this AP proof safe, it might increase in value over the years!

Please consider framing the work with museum-grade ultra-violet glass or acrylic and store or display the work in an environment with a humidity of 35 to 65% and a temperature of 10 to 30 degrees Celsius (50-86 F). When mounting and framing please use only archive grade tapes and glues (acid-free). Following these guidelines ensures a great lifetime of the AP and will last more generations.

Kind Regards,
Nicholas Wave
